Welcome from Brian

Hello to All!

For those of you who don’t know me, I am Brian Henderson, the managing partner of Open Way Yoga.  I want to take a minute to introduce myself and to say a little about the studio.

I began practicing yoga over twenty years ago.  In the early 90‘s Seattle had a thriving yoga scene.  I was a Math professor at Seattle University and a serious yoga student, practicing with many teachers, sometimes taking 2 or 3 classes a day.  In 2004 I resigned from my teaching position in order to devote myself more fully to the study and practice of yoga.  Over the past two decades, I’ve studied with excellent teachers all over the world, including more than a year of practice and study in India.

Our primary goal at Open Way Yoga is to provide students with excellent teachers who all have practices rooted in the traditions and philosophies of yoga.  Every teacher at our studio brings deep personal experience into their teaching.  My roots are in traditional Hatha Yoga, but I also practice and teach an organic mix of many ancient and modern styles.

Open Way Yoga is an environment where people of every level can practice and learn about yoga.  We offer classes for absolute beginners and experienced yogis.  Our 200-hour intensive program is designed to certify well-rounded teachers with devoted personal practices, but it can also be taken by those interested exploring the deeper and more varied aspects of yoga.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be writing short posts introducing our teachers.  Stop in and see us sometime soon.
