General Sessions:

Outdoor Adventure Yoga Private

Live your best life!

Unique wellness experiences combining Shannon’s nature wisdom and outdoor skills with yoga and somatic practices. Each session is custom-tailored to the clients interests, goals and desires. Options include: Nature hikes, paddle boarding, swimming, cold dipping, local beach trips, survival skills, dog adventures and more. These outdoor experiences combined with complementary movement practices and general conversations about wellness will give you a template for creating your own rich and embodied lives. You’ll learn how to build wellness into your days with a unique variety of practices.

Build Body Wisdom

Shannon is a trauma-informed yoga teacher with over 11 years of teaching experience. Integrating a variety of traditions she teaches many different types of practices, she can support you in learning how to live functionally and joyfully with your body.
This is the basic yoga private option and the one to consider if you don’t exactly know what you want or need.

If you have been feeling extra high levels of stress lately, as many people are, Shannon can coach you through specific techniques that use body movements and yoga, breathing, and other practices to help calm the fight and flight responses in your nervous system and improve resilience. Most of us struggle to regulate our emotions, and these skills support us in developing this ability. She has dedicated years to learning these techniques, and she is skilled at communicating them to others.

There are somatic tools that can be used to support your nervous system and mental health as you navigate life’s most difficult terrain. Shannon can guide you through supportive somatic practices that can help you move through and release the painful emotional retentions that accompany trauma and grief, no matter how long you’ve been carrying it. These skills are so valuable if you are navigating a recovery journey.

Pelvic Floor and Inner Core

If you have core weakness or are struggling with increased urinary leakage, Shannon has some great practical tips to help strengthen and support your pelvic floor. She teaches an original 1-hour pelvic floor class every week at OWY, using yoga and other fun exercises that help to improve pelvic floor health, in these private sessions she will help you trouble shoot your own core and pelvic floor challenges and help you custom tailor a unique home practice that’s right for your body.

Yoga Balls for Pain Relief

If you are having a lot of pain/stiffness in your back, neck, legs, feet, shoulders, or even your abdomen, often releasing your connective tissues can help. There are anatomically informed ways to do this type of release on yourself at home, and Shannon can help you get started with this. We can all benefit from having skills to relieve structural pain.

Shannon L. Thomas

Shannon is a post-lineage trauma-informed yoga teacher with 11 years of teaching experience and 22 years of practice. Shannon has a unique background, beyond her embodied yoga practice… she spent over a decade learning and teaching survival skills and has successfully completed the 21 day challenge on The Discovery Channel’s Naked & Afraid. She attended The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC and has experience working as a Holistic Health Coach. Currently she teaches regular yoga classes at OWY and elsewhere and she has developed comprehensive programming for: The SORS Program at the Ohio Veterans Home, The Recovery Institute of Ohio, The City of Sandusky, Sandusky City Schools, Huron City Schools Athletic Programs as well as in-house programing at OWY, including yoga teacher trainings (trauma-informed and anti-racist modules), workshops, and community out-reach programming. She is also a Peer Recovery Supporter (certification pending) and has used her skills to support the navigation of her own recovery and mental health journeys. She understands the value of having someone who has faced similar challenges standing beside you as you do the deep work of growth and self-discovery.
