You cannot practice yoga for long without coming into an awareness of interconnectivity. The process of digging deep, coming to understand and heal oneself naturally evolves into a deeper understanding of our personal interconnectivity and how our actions radiate out and affect the whole world. AS Americans we are most often brought up with a hyper-focus on individuality. The practice of yoga supports the break-down of that illusion and lands us right in the middle of humanity with settled systems that are able to give support and care where it is needed.
If you live in or around Huron like us, chances are high that you have a pretty good life. You probably don’t worry much about food security, you don’t worry about having the funds to pay your electric bills, you don’t worry about … I know this is not the reality for every single person in our community, but it is the reality for most. Most of us are okay and most of the people around us are okay and because of this when we look around we might not notice or be fully aware that not everyone is okay.
2020 revealed to us that millions of Americans are not okay, including many in our surrounding communities. Because we are secure, because we have been blessed with security and abundance, we are uniquely poised to benefit people in need. We are working on developing outreach programs where we can directly give back to our local community through community partnerships with organizations that are already doing needed work.
We’ve noticed that so many people want to help or give, but they don’t know what to target or where to focus and the confusion becomes inaction. We are here to cut the confusion. We are doing the research and finding the needs, then we will organize initiatives around supporting local partners.
