This 300 hour program is forward focused yoga education. We aspire to be at the forefront of yogic thinking in the modern age and we are bringing together a unique blend of major yoga voices to help us define our way as yoga teachers in these changing times.
Some of the main themes we will be exploring in this training:
Teaching the Evolutionary Path of Yoga
What will yoga look like in 100 years in America and what will be our contribution to its legacy? As you take this next step in your yoga teaching journey, this program is designed to help you "up-level" your place in living and teaching yoga today and in the future. There will be a thesis/business project opportunity with ongoing mentorship that you’ll work on during the entire training so as to be an active participant in the healthy evolution of yoga’s future as a post-lineage, consent-based, fully empowered practice.
Yoga’s Past, Present & Future
-History of hatha (physical) yoga.
-Yoga philosophy - interpretations and discussions for modern life.
-Energetic anatomy (the chakra system, nadi’s, etc) and embodiment - yogic and modern science.
-In today’s post #metoo culture, agency & empowerment in yoga are more important than ever. We will discuss power dynamics in the teacher/student relationship, group dynamics and a re-examination of ethics in the yoga community. We will have a special weekend with guest teacher, Matthew Remski, author, Threads of Yoga and Practice And All is Coming, featuring the PRISM model for creating safer yoga communities.
Yoga in Your Anatomy
-The anatomy of breathing and the nervous system.
-What is the human being designed to do? We will look at nature - from embryology, infancy through the evolution of humans as upright movers and the relevance to yoga, in the past and in the future.
-Yoga in Your Anatomy, Module 1 & 2 with lead teacher, Sandy Gross, owner Move Well Cleveland.
-Biomechanics for yoga asana - alignment, injury considerations and modern evolutions of postures for todays needs - a weekend with special guest, Laurel Beversdorf.
Helping Humans Solve Problems
-Functional movement, mindfulness, embodiment and down regulation - yoga’s big opportunities as skills-based practices for today.
-Move Well Ed. methodology for helping students get clear what normal range of motion is and is not to inform your classes and privates. Become more comfortable with anatomical terms as a language to help make your students feel more empowered.
-Inspiration for living - The art of theming with yoga history, philosophy, functionality, energetics and most importantly evolving your own unique voice for the contexts outlined in your thesis project.
-Yoga’s "best practices" beyond physical fitness - develop your teaching skills of down regulation or relaxation. Modules on restorative yoga/propping, teaching meditation, yoga nidra and guided relaxation.
Merging Business with your Spiritual Path - the business of yoga in 2020
-Yoga as self-therapy - how to bridge the gap between yoga and healthcare and discussions around scope of practice, business opportunities, self-healing and agency of the student.
